Do you have the 4cyl or 6cyl?

Regaurdless of engine size you should be able to go faster than 115. I think the governor on the 4cyl is 125 and I know the governor on the v6 is 135mph.

There are ways to get rid of it but do you really need to go that much faster

Yup. It always pays to have a full automatic weapon and a car that can outrun the cops  :P

Rev limiter?

Postby NOSDOG79 » Mon May 05, 2003 10:09 pm

Regarding the original post... I was wondering if the speed governor also limits RPM.

I am not interested in going 150 mph (well not unless I'm going to Vegas) but I am interested in how the governor limits RPM.

Will the Split Second product fix the RPM problem?

Neal

EDIT:the RPM 'problem' I am refering to occurs during double-clutching: I double-clutch to jump the RPM (from 3 to 4 1/2 or 5), yet when I release the clutch the RPM drops to it's original position.

Why do you have to double clutch to shift up?

You are not refering to the governor, it sounds like you are talking about the rev limiter which is there to protect your engine. Unless you plan to get forged internals I wouldn't remove that. Its there for a reason

I do not have to. Why do people answer questions with questions?

Yanks,
Thanks, that helps somewhat.

The speed limiter is computer enabled...and keeps you going above 135 or 133 in most cases. RPM limiter keeps you from going way past redline. The rev limiter cuts fuel when it gets past a certain RPM. Two totally different things.
