It's easy to check the camber yourself. Get a straight piece of board the lenght of the wheel diameter, tape a torpedo level to it (walmart sells these 9" levels for dirt cheap), pull straight into a reletively level area, and hold the board against the rim top-bottom. Idealy, the horizontal bubble should be just touching the outter line, indicating that the top of the tire is slightly closer to the car's centerline than the bottom. If it is your outside edge that is wearing, and the bubble is toward the inside, then you need a kit, or if it is the inside of your tire that is wearing, and the bubble leans excesively into or past the outside line, you need the kit. If the bubble looks good (slightly off-center), then maybe it is another factor. Most places will do a toe alignment no matter what, though; so if you're still wearing, it's because you need the kit.
