Brake Overhaul Opinion?

Here's my list for my brake overhaul.....my choices are from searching the board. Recommend any alternatives (cheaper?).....



From searching, everyone seems to recommend steel brake lines.......Tirerack only has Goodridge G-Stop Brake lines? Are there any other sites (or brands) you guys recommend for brake lines?

stainless lines make a huge improvement, I recomend them for sure. I am running stainless lines (I believe Goodrich) with Brembo slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads and the car stops extremely well. i think you would be pleased with those choices.

I have Hawk pads, they are great to me so far. I'm getting Brembo blanks in a lil bit..

Absolutely go for stainless brake lines. I have Brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors and Raybestos ceramic pads. Have had the rotors for about 5 years now and no problems. The pads are great. Highly recommend them.

I'm in the process of gettin' new brake components for my car.
So far i have DBA rear slotted rotors, and Goodrige SS brake lines, and in about 4 weeks my front DBA 4000Series front slotted rotors will be comin' in.
Wish my front slottd rotors came in, but the place i bought it from ran out of them, and the rotors are bein' shipped straight from Aus.

I'm actually needing new brakes, and just out of curiosity, is it hard to change ur own brakes and rotors? or leave it to a professional?

get blanks unless you are on the track you don't need the extra vents drilled and slotted provide. blanks will stop better.

Yes. They use up the brake pads faster. There have been some pretty good discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of slotted and drilled rotors in the past.

I have the Goodridge lines on my car. Good stuff. The pedal is much more solid with them. A long time ago someone on here described it as being like “stepping on a brick”. I think that Russell may make them for us also, but I am not 100% sure. It's been years since I went brake line shopping.

I usually get duralast rotors I can get a free new set any time I want under 2 years (autozone). I also get bendex ceramic pads they are similar to factory and I can get unlimited free sets (advance auto parts). I replace them every 2 years for free

Like the other member said yes it does.
Every time you brake the slots on the slots on the rotors slice a thin layer of brake pad off.
Neva get cross-drilled rotors.
I have cross-drilled rotors from Brembo and they didn't last long at all......

How much of an improvement do the SS brake lines give? Does the brake pedal have a noticeable improvement in firmness?

The brakes seem fine stock too me, but anytime you can improve them its probably worth it.

I heard about that aswell but def get the SS brake lines and some performance pads is all you need to stop ...Now unless you wanna spend a $1,000.00 + for some Prescision big brake kit or rotora ?
