On the Lexus, the tailpipe from the muffler just floats inside the inlet of the tip. The exhaust system actually doesn't touch the flush mounted tip. So it's real easy to to get it to work. I've been to the company in Japan that designed and manufactures that exhaust. (Too bad I can't get the tips.)
Hey Brian (PhreakedOut); Off of the top of my head, I can think of more than one "hard part".
- Squeezing in a true dual exhaust system. (I know its been done, but it is rare)
- Getting the tips like you mentioned
- Custom body work to enlarge the rear bumper to allow flush mounted exhaust and pray that it still looks good.
I know of a local performance exhaust shop that can work some magic with some custom installations. Maybe they might have some insight on the tips or maybe they can fabricate something similar.
Then, to find a body shop that will design, manufacture and install such a unique rear bumper. I see that it looks good on the Lexus, but it may not look kosher on a Solara.
Maybe when I get all of my bills paid and I have a couple spare thousand bucks, I can finally get a custom widebody like i20solara02i and get this exhaust as well.
