Hey all,
As many of you know, Almost 2 years ago, I bought a Yaris to get me to and from work. I drove the Yaris so often that I neglected my Solara. My Solara sits safely in my garage with a dead battery.
About 8 months ago, I got a job only 4 miles from home. This means the Yaris is no longer required. So here is a list of things that I need to do to get my Solara road worthy again.

- Supercharger oil change (bought the kit about a year ago)
- New plugs (Bought a set of of NGK BKR6EQUP about 2 years ago)
- New wires (Bought a set of magnecors about 8 months ago)
- Install supercharger belt tensioner (I'm embarassed to say I bought this about 4 years ago - my supercharger is so old that it came with the original "no tensioner" plate)
- Intall new supercharger belt (bought it about 2 years ago)
- Install Jims torque rod (bought it on the last group buy about a year and a half ago)
- Install Jims fuel mod (bought it about 3 years ago)
- Install high temp thermostat (bought this 3 years ago)
- Radiator drain and flush
- Oil & filter change
- New battery

I've had all of these parts laying around for a long time. I guess I was just too lazy to install them. Now, I'll be doing all of these installs in the next couple of days. My Solara will soon be on the road again.

Soon after, I have other big plans.

New suspension
New exhaust
New wheels

I'll keep you all updated with my progress and I'll also post pics.

Stay tuned to this thread.

Ok, project officially started.

I warmly greeted my baby with a smile.

Actually, I'm kind of embarassed about this. I dropped a socket while I was working on it. As I got down to pick it up, I saw the undercarriage. A shitload of spiderwebs. My baby needs a bath!

Today, I started with something simple. I just removed the battery and started on the torque rod.

Battery removal - tons and tons of corrosion. I need to get back in there with a steel brush and clean that out. I'll probably just replace the terminals.

Torque rod - It's actually pretty simple. I didn't finish my install, because I am going to swipe some washers from work so that the torque rod won't have so much play in it.

If anybody would like me to take pictures or make a tutorial of any of these steps, please speak up. I'd be happy to.

More to come...

Yes I do.
The above project is just to get her on the road again.
I'll get the LSD installed soon, maybe in the spring along with a new high performance clutch.

I just paid off one credit card, soon to have a second card paid off. I get LOTS of overtime at work, so I'm not as limited with money as I once was.
Although I did put down a deposit on a new motorcycle, there is the possibility that I wont get financed ( I have terrible credit).

Stay tuned for more progress reports...

Ok, sorry about that. How many pics would it take to qualify?

Despite it raining off and on for the last 5 days, I attempted again to make progress.

Here is the original battery from a 2001 Solara:
Image
Of course, this battery is garbage.

Here is the battery box.
Image
Does anybody have any good ideas on how to clean this up?

Here is the engine shock mount removed.

And here is the Torque Rod in its place.

Believe it or not, all of the plastic pieces on the fan are quite sharp. I got my arm scratched up pretty good. Believe me, this garage was R rated for a while as I was cussing a lot.

Plugs: Old and new. Surprisingly, the old wasn't all that bad. I installed them the same time I installed my Supercharger back in 2002.

Pretty new wires to go with the plugs:

I did a couple other minor things too, but it started raining again. Even though my car is in a garage, while I'm working on it, my ass is out in the open.
I'll post more pics as I make more progress.

You can use a brush to brush all that white stuff out of the metal battery tray.
If you decide to replace the battery cables it's not to hard.
Here's mine:

Then here's how i routed my spark plug wires.

Oh and i agree the fan shroud is kind-of sharp.

for the battery tray just spray some battery cleaner and mop it up with some paper towels.
