Here is my old stances

Stock-

Teins-

JICs-
Image

^^right after i installed the coilovers while on presets. I lowered it about .75" in the rear and .5" in the front.

REview on MY Jics- Okay, Coilovers for all you newbees is great cause you can handle like a mofo on the street. You can adjust your height and it will not mess up ur spring rate. The height adjustability is Awesome. If you want it lower, done, spin couple things and viola. The comfort wise learned is different than the shock spring combo.

Honestly, i think shock spring for Daily driving is good. Its comfy but you can hang a typical left or right turn to another block and its fun.

The JICs are stiff and knowing that coilovers want to stick on the floor, when u hit a dip and come down, You get pulled back down on your seat fast too. So sometimes it gets a bit uncomfortable.

Here is my most comfy setting:
Front=2 rear= 3
Rides smooth on the dam SF roads and light on a dip.

One more thing.... im a Slam-a-holic.

Front has 3 more spins before it bottoms out. It is about 1/8" tucked in the fender.
Image

Rear has 18 more spins, but im tucked like .25 and .50 with a 140lb passenger in the back.
Image

Image

Pictures didnt do justice.

I rub in Sf on dips....

i cant turn more than half wheel spin going up a curb or i will bend my fenders.

Image

So yesterday i went driving to buy some metal for my product design class, i got out the car and saw this. I had a 175lb dude in my rear seat, so im guessin i bottomed out.

Image

Image

That chunk is a lil less than .5"x .3" on my left rear.

Hella weird, i never seen this type of damage to a wheel before. Now the question is: was it caused from my fender hitting the wheel? or was it a pot hole.

U guys remember this- Image

I HATE San Francisco ROADS

Anyways, i raised the rears up to 23 spins now and i made the ride not as stiff so i can do my daily grind comfortably.

Thats my thought of things. This is the draw back of trying to make your car look good.

Image
Image

BTW-^^^^those pictures were taken before i lowered the car more and with an almost empty gas tank.

probably a pothole- your fender can't do that to your rim...it'd just do scrapes and cut your tire usually...

as for comfort...I know what you're talking about now that I got my ksports on with custom springrates...

but for real, I would never go back to springs/struts at this point, just for performance's sake.

in terms of comfort though, just replace the springs with a lower spring rate and you'll be good for comfort. I'll be replacing my springs with some custom rate swift springs in a couple months if not less. I can't take these 10kg 7kg springs anymore in nyc or for my drives back and forth from toronto

That definitely looks like damage from a pothole. I've had chips break out of my wheels that look just like that. I've lost too many sets of rims over the years, so now I'm rocking a fatass tire profile.

The ride looks hott nonetheless!

^That's nothing like putting Pontiac rims on an Infiniti.

It's more like Cadillac rims on a Pontiac.

The springs are fine for me now, it was preloaded too much when i first had it but its much better now. I can deal with it.

"Akora"

I love the way your wheels look. I think they look super clean on your car. VEry very clean. Gotta love OEM. One reason i got these Wheels cause the size were great for the solara and knowin that its OEM makes me feel safe. I use to have 19" and they dented. I just know i feel more confident drivng in OEM wheels and can beat the crap out of them if anything.

"SleeperSolara"

Yup i know. This height is great but then, know that when you are low, you gotta be careful. We got: POt holes, bad train tracks thats whacked out, lots of dips, turn with dips, etc. its all american daily driving terror on streets (besides gravel stuff).

Im not sure if you know. But LExus and Toyota is like Honda and Acura. PLease know that LExus has toyota parts too.. Just a FYI.

"---CAMRAZY---"

Hhahaha, im looking for new sides and rears. If i can get the Convertible Side skirts ima hop on those. Just cant fish out much on those Molly lip kit. Does those sides i made that bad, honestly? I was thinking of finding cheaper sides from other cars and try them on the solara for test fitting.
One thing i wouldnt mind is being Milt Approved....Still in stages...i'll see what i can do.

BTw here are some pictures of today. They are bad cell pics, but here is how i roll in the bay.

Image
Image

Setting- 3 spins left in the front and 23 spins in the rear.
Dampeing- 2 front 1 rear

No rub in the rear- Front rubs, well more liek the lip scrapes the floor when i hit a turn left turn at 40mph and sometimes on dips. But its only the lip so it aint nothing. I'll show you how beat up my lip is one day when i take it off.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but...

The Lexus IS wheels are actually stamped Toyota on the back. That means it's like putting Toyota wheels on a Toyota. I feel better now.
