OK, my 2 cents as well...
> Do any of you have regrets owning a Toyota Solara?
NONE. In fact, my next car (100,000 miles later, hopefully) will be a Solara, though hopefully by that time I'll have a wife and kids, and having a coupe might be difficult in terms of cargo space, kiddie entry/exit, etc. We'll see.
But no regrets. It's an uncommon car (only 40,000 made a year now, the most being just over 60,000 during the first year) so it's relatively unique.
> Considering only performance and reliability, would you buy a Solara again?
YES. Probably will get the 4-cylinder stick next time, for kicks.
The Solara is reliable. It's Camry in 2-door disguise. When I was initially thinking of cars, I considered the Corolla, Celica, Integra, Altima...but coming from a family with 2 100,000+ Camrys, and being in a job where I needed a dependable car, it made total sense.
> Have you had reoccuring problems with your car?
Nope.
The only improvement in retrospect would have been a better set of tires. The 15" stock tires, Bridgestone Potenza RE92's, are infamous for being a lousy set of rubber. I plan to put on Dunlop Sport A2's next. But it hasn't been a factor causing major disappointment.
I say go for it, get the Solara!
