Hey what's up everyone. Maybe some of you can help me. I asked for help about this same topic a few months ago, but it still hasn't gone away.

I have a 2000 4-banger Solara. Lately, the accelerator has been sticking A LOT! There are times when I have to put a lot of pressure on it in order for it to go down so that my baby can move. Before, it only happened when I was at a complete stop (i.e. at a stop light, when I try to go, the accelerator sticks and won't go down.) Lately, it's been happening more often, and has even started happening when I ease up on the accelerator and try to push down on it again. I've brought it into a Toyota dealership, and they want to charge me $200 to clean the fuel injectors. But mind you, they don't know if that's the problem. For the past 6000 miles, I've added Chevron brand fuel injector system cleaner. I wish I could say it helps, but the problem still presist. My baby runs a lot smoother, so the product is working in that sense, but my accelerator is still sticking.

Can anyone help me out? Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do to it fixed?

Please help, I'd really appreciate it. The rainy season is coming, and I don't want to end up pealing out every time I am at a stop light.

Is it still under warranty? Don't let them charge you a penny if it is.

Something like that happened to my accord. My mechanic cleaned out the fuel injectors and the problem went away, but it didn't cost me $200 to get them cleaned

I have no idea if it's still under warranty. My baby was a birthday gift from mom's, so she has all that paper work, but I will look into it before i go in. THanks Kubi.

I was going to go ahead and get my fuel injectors cleaned, but I didn't want to pay for the service if that wasn't going to relieve the problem. But maybe I'll just go ahead and get it done if it helped on your Accord.
Thanks MGLax13

my sisters accord had a similar problem. pedal would stick in the morning after a night of sitting in the garage. it was carbon buildup on the butterfly valve (maybe a mod knows exactly what that means). they jus run some carbon buildup remover through the system and its supposed to solve the problem. hope that helps

Hey thanks Hari,

I was just talking to a co-worker about the problem and he mentioned the same thing about the throttle body. We are going to go check it out on our break to see if there's any buid up.

Thanks again guys.

If anyone else has any suggestions or has had a similar experience...lemme know. :)

Probably don't have any kind of warranty left on it then, unless an extended warranty was purchased. For some reason I thought this was in the Gen 2 topic and it was an 04. Anyone with an 04 Solara out of warranty drives way too much ;)

my mom and i were debating on whether to extend the warranty, but that was like 6 months ago, so i have no clue if the car is still under warranty.

just called the Toyota and they said that my warranty isn't up till 2006 and i bought the car in 2001. NICE.....BUT

the dude just told me that the warranty doesn't cover the problem. I still have to pay the 150 to get the throttle body cleaned and injectors cleaned. grr....

Fuel injector cleaner at a local shop shoud run you close to 60 bucks including labor! (at most). SO just try to see if that solves the problem!.

Cool thanks. Funny thing...the dude i talked to on the phone at the Toyota dealership is a cousin (cousin by marriage), so he said he is going to try and hook me up with some deal. He said that they are going to do the throttle body cleaning as well as the injectors. So i'm just going to have to see if that is going to help.

Thanks for the suggestion though. :)
