There are alot of full cat-back bolt up systems for our cars. Believe me, they're worth saving up for. You can find the Apexi WS system for less than 400 after shipping and that will show you alot more in the gain category than just welding on a muffler. If you where going to get a custom run done from the cat with larger piping it might help you out a little, but it will sound really cheap without the resonator.
As was said before there are some good quality mufflers out there that will have a decent sound, but they are usually about twice (or more) the cost of this one. Once you got all you piping ran you would be looking at close to the cost of the cat-back again.
I honestly, when I knew much less than today, considered doing my exhaust with a cheaper aftermarket muffler, but I am glad I saved for my cat-back setup. It sounds nice and has a noticeable affect on the feel of the car. Good luck on your choice man!
EDIT: I forgot to mention with the bolt-up system you can have the satisfaction of doing it yourself, so there is no labor cost other than your time

.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.
