Was that kinda safty feature? coz then i shifted to 4th and it was fine. I also stopped and shifted from 1st up to 5th and everything was fine.
Did it ACTUALLY go all the way into second, with our gearbox, you would have had to really cram it to get in second @ 90 mph. If so, did you relase the clutch? slowly or did you just pop it? Did the rpm's climb like the gear was engaged or did the gear not engage at all, making it feel like it was in neutral the entire time you were letting the clutch out? Like jhbhatia said, a friend of mine put his civic in reverse while going forward and released the clutch and the thing just popped out into neutral, is that what happened? Also, our gear box makes it hard to put it in a gear that doesn't match your current RPM/speed. I.E. if you are going 50 and try to put it in first or reverse or someting, you will have to push really hard, and when it finally goes in it will make a horrible grinding feeling/sound which would alert you that something is wrong.
From what you described, I think you put the gear shifter into the slot for second but didn't actually get it all the way into gear. Then when you released the clutch, it felt like it was in neutral because it never actually was in gear.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.
