Does anyone know any way to make the lights go off even at night when the sensor makes them come on. is there an override or anything so you can make you lights go off when you want the darn things off? i feel like my car is telling me what to do or something. :drinking:

OK, before people jump all over you and harass you, click the search button in the top right of the site and search for DRL or Disabling DRL... theres a ton of posts about this

Peter is right, the sensor that is on your dash board on the right side (from the driver seat, infront of the passenger seat) is a night sensor. It's like a little black dome. Pop it out and unplug it, then pop it back in and you're set.

im saying i want to turn the lights off all together as well as disabling the auto on. even when you turn your lights to off they still stay on anyway. i have light covers on the front and back and i dont want them to have light coming through in the daytime. :drinking:

i'm guessing this guy is talking about disabling the DRL feature and the twilight sensor altogether.

wow! we haven't discussed this in about 5 minutes, so i'll let you in on the skinny:

disable DRL - pop your hood. look at the top far left corner of the engine bay. (passenger side) there should be a gray connector. unplug it. simple.

disable twilight sensor - not so simple. "popping off" that sensor on the passenger side of the dash is not as easy as it sounds. to avoid breaking the plastic bezel that surrounds the sensor, and a few minutes of swearing and obscenities, take your whole glove box off. it's 4 screws with a 10mm bolt at the bottom right corner of the glove box. take 'em off, WATCH THE YELLOW line that is attached to a cover in the glove box. (air bag connections) then, you can simply unplug the sensor from below instead of "popping it out".

although, some qwerks (sp?) i've found with both techniques occasionally come up are:

DRL sensor - DRL's may come back on even though sensor is unplugged. just plug in the sensor for a few minutes, then unplug it again.

Twilight sensor - upon unplugging the sensor i immediately noticed that my airbag light on my instrument cluster stayed on...hmmmm. haven't figured that one out yet.

I brought my car to a body shop half year ago. I asked the mechanic if he can disable the DRL for me. He just unplugged and connected some wires on the fuse box which located besides the battery. I want to ask you guys is it possible and safe to do some work on the fuse in order to disconnected DRL?? :-?
