Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows how reliable the rippmods supercharger is. My solara is a 4 cyl and I desprately want more power, although Im not willing to sacrifice much reliability.

when ever any aftermarket application is used, there is always that risk you have to take.

EVERYTHING.. in some cases even if u replace something n ur car with a factory part.... once a bolt is turned (in my opinion and could actually be true) its not the same... over time nuts and bolts seat into place and when u turn the threads it may never get seated as well again. MY OPINION incase anyone is wondering

I own a I4 myself and feel that the RippMod price of over 3K for the stage one supercharger is crazy when you can sell the I4 and buy a 6 cyl and then put a supercharger on that....where the supercharger is less $$$ per unit because of the demand for it. Also keep in mind that the I4 supercharger price is before install costs if you are not a DIY type of person....

just my 2 cents on it.

They have run a couple thousand miles with it applied and no problems! Also were talking almost 100 HP+ Dyno proven! Of coarse anything that is unique and the demand is low its going to be priced high. Of coarse you can pay lower custom fitting turbos but why go through the headache of that questionable reliability that you’re looking for. Owning an i4 already why get a (preowned) - 1mz-fe to then get the trd SC?
I think that’s spending more money when you can invest in getting more power out of your own 5s-fe with rippmods at a safe 5.5 psi. You can't get 100 hp gains with the 1mzfe trd sc alone and have that 'reliability' your looking for unless someone has a dyno to prove me wrong. To each is own but that’s my .2 cents.

I would love to see a rippmoded 5s-fe and trdSC 1mz-fe on a drag race. Both with the same psi pulley size would be fair. :P

Here is some info about a turbo kit and a diy that can cost you 1g less but you know how that goes... :-?
