I stopped all right cept i felt that my brakes locked up for a bit or watever...then after i gave my car gas and it seemed like it dropped into neutral for a few seconds and the engine just reved. But after a second or two it ran fine again. Has this happened to anyone else and could this be a problem? BTW i have a 2000 SE
I think this is normal for Camry/Solara auto tranny. It just can't figure out what you wanted to do fast enough - you were on the gas while driving, then when braking in a panic situation you let go off the gas abruptly and completely, then slammed it again quickly - the tranny needs time to react and is not tuned for these extreme situations... Old/dirty fluid may be contributing too. Or the time stopped for a moment during this "near death" experience of yours and it seemed like a few seconds (jsut kidding). ANyways, I don't think it has anything to do with ABS. You can try the same thing without braking - let go off the gas for a second, then step on it again then let go then step again - I bet you'll get a similar result - the tranny will be confused (but don't try to often as this stresses the drivetrain)
